Amphetamine Salts XR

Generic: mixed amphetamine salts extended-release  ·  Brand: Adderall XR®  ·  Class: Stimulant — Schedule II (Amphetamine)
ADHD Once Daily Extended Release
🧠

How It Works

Adderall XR contains the same mixed amphetamine salts as Adderall IR but uses a beaded delivery system — half the beads release immediately and half release 4 hours later. This provides a smooth, all-day effect lasting approximately 10–12 hours from a single morning dose. The extended-release formulation eliminates the need for midday school or work doses, reduces rebound effects, and improves consistency of coverage compared to immediate-release.

What It Treats

ADHD in Children 6+FDA-approved; once-daily dosing eliminates school nurse visits for midday doses
ADHD in AdultsFDA-approved; convenient once-daily coverage for work and daily activities
