Care rooted in
who you are,
not just what's wrong
At Rooted Minds Psychiatry, we believe good care starts with genuine connection. We're here to support young people at every stage — with patience, warmth, and zero judgment.
Why we started
Rooted Minds
Rooted Minds was built on a straightforward belief: young people deserve mental health care that actually fits them. Not care designed around rigid systems or one-size-fits-all protocols — but care that starts by seeing the whole person.
Too many kids, teens, and young adults fall through the cracks of traditional psychiatric care — either because the system moves too fast, doesn't account for their developmental stage, or never takes the time to understand their world. We wanted to do it differently.
We specialize in medication management, ADHD evaluations, and an ACE-informed whole-person approach — because what happened to someone matters just as much as what's happening now.
Built on connection,
not just treatment
Every choice we make — from how we structure appointments to how we communicate with families — comes back to these principles.
Collaborative
We partner with young people and their families, working together — not prescribing from above.
Warm & Welcoming
Every visit starts with genuine care. We create spaces where kids and teens feel instantly at ease.
Developmentally Informed
We meet each person at their developmental stage — because a 7-year-old and a 22-year-old need very different care.
Strength-Based
We build on what young people already carry — resilience, creativity, identity — not just on what's hard.
Renee,
PMHNP-BC
Renee is a board-certified psychiatric nurse practitioner with a focus on children, teens, and young adults. She founded Rooted Minds to offer the kind of care she always believed was possible — thorough, honest, and genuinely collaborative.
Her approach is grounded in ACE-informed practice, meaning she understands that adverse childhood experiences shape mental health in lasting ways. She brings that lens to every evaluation, every medication decision, every conversation.
Renee sees patients in Bellingham, Washington, and is accepting new patients for medication management and ADHD evaluations.
What to expect
at Rooted Minds
From your first call to ongoing care, we aim to make every step clear and straightforward.
A real conversation first
Before anything else, we want to understand you — your history, your goals, and what hasn't worked before. No intake questionnaire replaces that.
Thorough evaluation
ADHD and other evaluations are comprehensive — we look at the full developmental picture, not just a checklist. Families are part of the process.
Ongoing, responsive care
Medication management doesn't stop at the prescription. We follow up, adjust, and stay in communication as things change — because they always do.
